AI Trainers FAQ

What happens in the micro1 Zara interview?

Home AI Training Platforms
Share on WhatsappShare on LinkedInShare on RedditShare on GPT

The micro1 Zara interview is a real-time AI interview in which you answer open-ended questions out loud about the skills a role needs. It takes approximately 20 to 40 minutes, or roughly 7 minutes per skill.

micro1 records the interview so human recruiters can review your answers, and to prepare, study the role’s skill list and practise speaking about real examples.

This guide suits you if you have applied to a micro1 role or plan to. It is not for you if you want a written test, because Zara asks every question out loud.

Checked: 16 Oct 2026. AI Trainers FAQ is independent. Platform rules change often, so check micro1’s own pages before you take the interview.

TL;DR

  • Zara is micro1’s AI recruiter, and it interviews every candidate for a role.
  • The interview is live and spoken, and it takes approximately 20 to 40 minutes.
  • Each skill in the role usually takes approximately 7 minutes, so more skills mean a longer interview.
  • Prepare one real example per skill, and practise saying it out loud.
  • If you do not qualify, request detailed feedback from your Talent Dashboard.

What Zara is

Zara is micro1’s AI recruiter, and it runs the interview for every candidate who applies to a micro1 role. micro1 says the process is structured and standardised, so every candidate for a role faces the same kind of questions. The objective is to let you demonstrate how you think, communicate and solve real problems in your field, rather than relying only on your resume.

How the micro1 Zara interview works

Four facts describe the Zara interview format, and our guide to the micro1 application process shows where it fits.

  • Real time: Zara asks questions live, and you answer as you would with a human interviewer.
  • Spoken answers: you answer open-ended questions out loud, not in writing.
  • Length: micro1 says the interview takes 20 to 40 minutes, depending on how many skills the role needs.
  • Recording: the session is recorded, so micro1’s human recruiters can review results and match candidates to roles.

What Zara tests

Each role on micro1’s Opportunities Portal lists predefined skill requirements, which micro1’s recruiters set from the client’s needs. Zara tailors its questions to those skills, and micro1 says one skill usually takes about 7 minutes to evaluate. A role with four skills is therefore likely to take close to the full 40 minutes, so schedule your time accordingly.

How to prepare

Good preparation is mostly about speaking clearly on real examples, so work through these five steps.

Illustration for this micro1 Zara interview guide: a desk microphone and a pair of headphones beside a laptop in a quiet room, with thin blue corner brackets around the microphone

Generated illustration: test your microphone and connection before the interview.

  1. List every skill in the role, because each one gets its own set of questions.
  2. Prepare one short, real example for each skill, so you always have something specific and concrete to describe.
  3. Practise answering out loud, because written notes sound different when spoken.
  4. Use a simple structure for each answer, such as the problem, what you did and the result, so your reasoning is easy to follow.
  5. Test your microphone and internet connection, and choose a quiet room, because the interview is live and recorded.

micro1’s website also has an Interview Prep section to look at before your first attempt, and our guide to AI trainer interview preparation covers general practice in more detail.

Example (fictional): A medical writer applies to a role that lists “clinical terminology” and “plain-language editing”. She prepares one example for each, such as rewriting a discharge note for patients, and she practises saying both in under two minutes.

After the interview

Your result appears in your Talent Dashboard, and if you qualify but no project follows, read what to do if you are certified but have no project.

If you qualify

micro1 asks you to complete your profile and verify your ID with a valid physical passport, driving licence or national ID and a selfie. You then receive your micro1 certificate and join the certified talent pool, which makes you eligible for invitations and direct applications. Certification does not promise a project, because matching depends on client demand, and our guide to AI trainer onboarding explains what happens when a project starts.

If you do not qualify

You can click any application marked “Did not qualify” to request detailed feedback, which micro1 sends by email, covering what went well and what to improve, so use it before your next interview.

Later interviews

Zara checks your past results against each new role. Skills you certified after July 2025 do not need to be certified again, so a later interview may test only the missing skills or be skipped. Your dashboard shows a “Fast-Track” badge when the interview is skipped and a “Partial interview” badge when only some skills are tested.

Warning: do not read prepared answers from a script or have someone else answer for you. The interview is recorded and reviewed by people, and micro1 wants to hear how you think in real time.

Get ready for Zara

Write down the skills from your chosen role, practise one example for each skill out loud today, and book the interview only when each answer feels natural. Our guide to AI trainer skills helps if you are unsure how to describe your strengths.

Zara asks about work you have already done, so the examples you need are ones you already have.

How long is the Zara interview?

micro1 says the Zara interview takes 20 to 40 minutes, depending on how many skills the role needs. One skill usually takes about 7 minutes to evaluate, so a role with four skills is likely to run close to the full 40 minutes. Book a quiet hour so you never feel rushed.

Is a human watching the interview?

No, Zara runs the interview live on its own, but micro1 records the session, and human recruiters review the results afterwards to match candidates to roles. Speak as clearly as you would to a person, because people will hear your answers later.

Can I retake the Zara interview?

micro1's library does not set out a retake rule that we could find. If you do not qualify, request detailed feedback from your Talent Dashboard first, and use it to prepare. micro1 also says its team may still reach out if they think you suit another role.

Do other platforms use Zara?

Yes, at least one does. Alignerr's onboarding page says some of its jobs may need a Zara AI interview, and it tells you when a job needs one. Check each platform's own instructions, because the interview rules and the way results are used can differ from micro1's.

When will I see my result?

Check your Talent Dashboard, because it shows the status of each application. micro1 says "Under review" can last up to 48 hours, and "Hiring manager reviewing" can take up to 30 days. micro1 also says there is no fixed timeline, because each step depends on project needs.
